English Grammar in Use 로 혼자 영어 공부하자: I have & I've got

Essential Grammar in Use, 일명 빨간책 Unit 9에서 다루고 있는 

I have 와 I've got 에 대해 알아보자.

 

'가지고 있다' 라는 뜻의 have는 사실 have got (줄여서 've got)과 같은 뜻이다.

다만 I've got 은 영국 쪽에서 좀 더 많이 쓰는 표현이다.

 

우리가 익히 알고 있듯,

3인칭, 즉 he / she/ it 뒤에서 have 는 has 로 바뀐다는 사실만 알아두면 된다.

~를 가지고 있다. : have / have got

 

I have brown eyes. = I've got brown eyes.

She has two brothers. = She's got two brothers.

My room has two windows. = My room has got two windows.

 

 

~를 가지고 있지 않다.(없다) : don't have / haven't got

I don't have a notebook. = I haven't got a notebook.

She doesn't have a pet. = She hasn't got a pet.

We don't have any children. = We haven't got any children.

 

*** Do 동사 변형에서 배웠듯, He/She/It 뒤에서 Do는 Does로 바뀌는데

이는 Have 동사 앞에서도 똑같이 적용된다.

Do you have a pencil?  = Have you got a pencil?

Does he have a TV? = Has he got a TV?

Do they have a car? = Have they got a car?
